Cranfield goal not enough

Despite creating plenty of chances and defending well for much of the game, Pinchbeck United fell to a 3-1 defeat at home to Stapleford Town in Division One of the United Counties League.

Things started well for the Knights with Josh Panton’s free-kick headed back across goal by captain Josh Balding for Harry Cranfield to tap in a fourth-minute opener.
However, the visitors pulled level after 16 minutes and went ahead early in the second half before sealing the points just before the
hour-mark to add to their earlier 3-0 FA Vase victory at Eslaforde Park.
Worryingly for Pinchbeck, the two teams immediately above them in the table both won, opening a five-point gap between the Knights and the safety line.
Knights: Cox, Denton, Balding, Panton, Cranfield, Huggins, Callaby, Young, Ward, Hussein, Pitigoi.
Subs: Twigg, Dale, Eyres, King, Hetherington-Field.
Attendance: 36.
☐ Pinchbeck have been drawn away to Skegness Town in the quarter-finals of the Lincs FA Senior Trophy.
The tie is to be played on Saturday, November 14.
