Coveted F1 Stock Car world final spot eludes Sargent duo at King’s Lynn

There was double disappointment for two of South Holland’s F1 Stock Car drivers at King’s Lynn last weekend.

Neither one of the father and son duo of Mark and Finn Sargent – who were aiming to reach the F1 Stock Car world final – managed to negotiate the semi-final hurdle.

It was always going to be tough for son, Finn who had no shale experience and started the semi on the very back row of the grid.

His father Mark – who is celebrating his 25th season of BriSCA racing – had high hopes of making his first F1 Stock Car world final, having had a good qualifying campaign which saw him start the main race on the third row.

However, neither driver was able to complete the distance in the main race.

Mark did later get a sixth place in the consolation, but he failed to appear for the final.

Pre-race favourite Stuart Smith Jnr took a comfortable win in the meeting final.

There was some cheer for South Holland fans in the F2 Stock Cars, with Spalding’s Chris Sutton driving fantastically in the final to come home in third place.

Chesterfield’s Jake Walker took the chequered flag in that race.

The 2L Stock Cars saw Simon Venni back amongst the star grade following a series of good results – and he will be pleased with his performance.

The Long Sutton ace placed well in all three races and took third place in the meeting final following a fantastic drive.
Sid Madgwick was the winner of that one.

There was also racing at King’s Lynn on Sunday.

Pinchbeck’s Dan Booth enjoyed a fine runner-up finish in the final and just ran out of laps to catch Will Morphey.

Elsewhere, a solid sixth place was the best Spalding’s Lewis Ivatt could manage in the Junior Bangers race.
