Council backing for Clean for the Queen

Residents are being urged to sign up to a campaign to “Clean for the Queen”.
The campaign aims to give the country a tidy-up ahead of The Queen’s 90th birthday in April and is being backed by South Holland District Council.
The campaign, also supported by the Government, organisations including the Women’s Institute, the National Trust and the RSPB, businesses including McDonald’s, Costa, Greggs, KFC and Wrigley and anti-litter charities such as Keep Britain Tidy and the Campaign to Protect Rural England, is the biggest community-led clean-up the country has ever seen.
Clean for The Queen is centred on a weekend of activity from March 4th to 6th, 2016.
In South Holland, anyone taking part in a litter pick can collect bags from South Holland District Council’s offices in Priory Road, Spalding.
Coun Roger Gambba-Jones, South Holland District Council’s portfolio holder for Waste Management, said: “We are delighted to be supporting Clean for The Queen.
“We would encourage as many groups, individuals and organisations across the district to take part as possible.”
Clean for The Queen campaign director Adrian Evans said: ‘We hope a million people will join us in a mass litter pick to give our beautiful country the facelift it deserves.”
