Could you join volunteer litter picks in Spalding for Queen’s 90th birthday?

Litter picks have been organised for Spalding to coincide with a national initiative.

Clean For The Queen is a three-day event with local groups throughout the country encouraged to clean up their villages, towns and grot spots in readiness to celebrate her 90th birthday later this year.

District councillors will join other volunteers and are hoping other people join them at two litter-picks and tidy-ups, starting at noon on Saturday, March 5.

Coun Angela Newton will be joining Spalding Monkshouse Cubs, under the leadership of Christine Gratton, to do a litter pick on Monkshouse playing field and surrounding areas.

And Coun Jack McLean and the Spotless Spalding group will be cleaning up riverside areas. They will meet at the flowerbeds near High Bridge at noon.

Volunteers will be able to enjoy a free buffet lunch at The Pennygate Foundation in Pennygate.

Anybody wanting any additional information should ring Coun Newton 07939 559764 or Coun Jack McLean 07761 098517. You can also find out more on Spotless Spalding’s Facebook page.

To register your own litter pick go to www.cleanforthequeen.co.uk and sign up online.
