Collapsed sewer pipe at closed Spalding sink hole road

Investigations on the closed Albion Street in Spalding have found a ‘collapsed sewer pipe’, Anglian Water said.

A spokesman for the water company said today (Monday): ““Our teams are currently on site following the investigation of a sink hole in Albion Street, Spalding.

“Further to a camera survey into the hole we have found that our sewer pipe has collapsed, and we are currently planning the repair to the pipe.

“The road has been closed for the safety of the public and our teams and a diversion has been put in place.

“We would like to thank the public for their cooperation while we complete these repairs and look to have the road reinstated as soon as we can.”

A spokesman for Lincolnshire County Council said this morning:

“Anglian Water are currently investigating whether the Albion Street incident is connected to their infrastructure.

“Once we have received the results of this investigation, we’ll be able to work with them to arrange the necessary repairs.

“Unfortunately, at this stage, we are unable to give a firm timescale for when we will be in a position to re-open the road, but we’re working with Anglian Water to get the issue resolved as soon as possible.”
