‘Clowns’ roll car at vandalism hotspot

A call has been made for CCTV to be installed at a vandalism hotspot after “mindless idiots” rolled a parked car.

The car was left lying on its side in The Vista car park, Spalding, close to St Nicolas Hall which has been repeatedly targeted by vandals.

A picture of the toppled car appeared on social media prompting a flood of angry comments about the “disrespectful idiots” responsible.

Other commentators called the vandals “pathetic”, “a bunch of clowns”, “immature” and “sick”.

One said: “The idiots round here should just leave things be that don’t concern them.

“There was no need at all for that to happen – just idiots playing pranks.”

Another added: “You don’t do that to someone else’s car or property. End of!”

One of the comments also said it was time for CCTV to be installed in The Vista to act as a deterrent to the groups who gather there and commit anti-social behaviour.

A friend of the car’s owner made an appeal on Facebook to help catch those responsible, saying; “If anyone saw the mindless idiots who overturned my friend’s car in the Vista car park please tell the police.

“She is completely distraught and could do with the support.”

Police said the incident was reported just before 7pm on Thursday.

The car’s owner arranged for the car to be recovered.

Last summer, Spalding Police introduced a dispersal order in the area of The Vista and Ayscoughfee, which gave them powers to move on groups of more than two people gathering in the area.

They also stepped up patrols after a spate of vandalism and anti-social behaviour, which saw windows repeatedly smashed at the church hall, and drink cans, litter and drugs paraphernalia left lying around.

Anyone with information about the car damage should contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 quoting incident 349 of April 9.
