Circus Mondao: ‘Protestors at Weston site have not deterred visitors’

Circus operators say planned protests calling for it to stop using animals in shows have not deterred visitors.

Last weekend (Feb 11), members of Lincoln Animal Rights group gathered at Circus Mondao during its half-term run of shows in Weston.

Circus ringmistress Petra Jackson said the shows had been as popular as ever.
She added: “We made an announcement at the beginning of the show and asked audiences to make up their own minds.
“We are registered and licensed by the government. Horses that do dressage at the circus are no different to a local show. Our little dog does tricks no different to dog agility and our llamas walk around the circus ring.”

Protester Karina Saunders (42), of Spalding, said visitors were polite and many took the information leaflets being handed out.
