Circle rounds up for celebration

A friendship group held a special lunch last week to mark a remarkable coincidence.

The Friendship Circle of South Lincolnshire was set up in a bid to alleviate loneliness.

It usually meets every fortnight on a Tuesday, frequently at Pennington’s in the town.

But last week they decided to have a special celebration lunch at The Red Lion.

That’s because of the around 20 regular members, a quarter had big birthdays in the same month.

They were a 90th birthday for Sylvia LeSueur and 80ths for Doreen Hewitt, Lynda Lott, June Wright and Sylvia Horler.

The group has been organised by Judy Dolton since returning after the COVID-19 lockdowns.

“We help to bring people together and this was the perfect occasion to do that even outside of our usual meetings,” she said. “We had a brilliant turn out and enjoyed a lovely lunch.”
