Choir go ‘starry-eyed’

The South Holland Singers – along with guest local choirs – will perform for the first time at the town’s premier entertainment venue this autumn in ‘Songs from Stage and Screen’ on Saturday October 25.

The concert, at the South Holland Centre, will be a chance to enjoy some of favourite songs from stage and screen across the decades with special guests Act II Choir, Glebe Singers, Mirinesse and the Spalding Community Choir also performing.

“This is a first for the South Holland Singers” a spokesman said. “It’s also a lovely opportunity to bring several local choirs together.

“As well as enjoying the music, the audience will be able to get a feel for each group and perhaps even join one of them after the concert!

“For fans of musicals and film music, the evening will be a treat.”

Tickets for the concert are all priced at £12 and are available from the centre’s box office or on- line at southhollandcentre.co.uk.

Meanwhile, the choir’s new season launches on Thursday, September 11 and promises a varied and exciting programme of music and events for 2025-26 including its annual Come and Sing taster day on January 10.

The long-established, friendly choir always welcomes new members

There are no auditions and singers do not need to be able to read music although it is an advantage.

Three free trial sessions and a range of membership payment options are available.

The choir rehearses every Thursday evening at Spalding Baptist Church from 7.30-9pm during the autumn and spring terms (approximately 30 weeks).

At least two concerts a year are the aim, at a variety of venues.
