Charlie saddles up for charity

A seven-year-old is getting on his saddle to raise money for new library books for his school.
Charlie Edgeley is planning to ride his pony Olaf for 10 miles along the Moulton Marsh sea barrier in January.
He’s doing so to raise funds for the Friends of John Harrox Primary School group.
Charlie himself is in Ahlberg class at the school while mum Lisa is the chair of the Friends.
“We’re very proud of him,” she said. “Obviously the Friends haven’t been able to put on the usual fundraising events such as fayres or discos so it will hopefully meet some of that shortfall.
“We’re there to help provide things that the school can’t get through its usual revenue streams.
“Last year that was new iPads and money has also been put forward for an early years play area.
“This year we’re raising money to update the books in the library.”
Charlie has been riding since he was three and regularly competes in competitions.
But Lisa says this will be completely different.
“It’s a long way on a little horse,” she said. “We’re going to do some training sessions to make sure it’s possible and we’re looking to do it on a date in January.”
