Tulip Radio is inviting people to create a piece of artwork to mark the forthcoming 90th birthday of The Queen – and it will be presented to the monarch.
The Spalding-based radio station will allocate a year of the Queen’s reign to each interested party, which might be a business, club or individual.
Business manager Jan Whitbourn said: “You can paint, draw, do some craftwork or knit to create a montage of pictures of your allocated year.
“We will allocate you a year from 1952-2016. All you have to do is depict events that the Queen attended, by using music, films or television programmes from that year.
“Put your organisation onto the canvas and a flower of your choice.”
All the canvasses will be displayed at The Pride of South Holland Awards ceremony at the South Holland Centre on Saturday, June 18.
Jan added: “We have asked [South Holland and The Deepings MP] John Hayes if he would take the winning canvas to London and make sure the Queen will receive it, as the longest reigning monarch and as a 90th birthday present from South Holland.
“We want everyone to be proud of what can be achieved by you all.”
A similar project last year supported Spalding In Bloom.
Anyone wanting more information or to pick up a canvas should call Tulip Radio on 01775 712400 or email [email protected]. Deadline for the canvas is Friday, April 1.
