Celebrating season of success

Spalding Hockey Club celebrated their annual end of season awards night on Saturday with many of the club’s members present.

The evening started with the awards to those who have developed other club members with their coaching skills, these were presented to Junior Coach of the Year Camille Rogers and Senior Coach of the Year Barney Harris.

Callum Fravigar was rewarded for his umpiring and coaching efforts with both the Young Club Person and Young Umpire of the Year awards.

Tom Pilgrim has developed in the umpiring world and was handed the Umpire of the Year prize.

Two young players who have made great progress on the playing field were presented with the awards for Most Improved players – Honor Moore and Oscar Haunch.

With 36 goals, Charlotte Maplethorpe topped the female goalscorers’ table, with Stu Cunnington (26 goals) taking the male title.

The teams then presented awards for their own players:

Men’s 1sts players’ player: Oscar Haunch; captain’s player: Dan Azzopardi.

Men’s 2nds players’ player: Harry Maplethorpe; captain’s player: Matt Pottle.

Men’s 3rds players’ player: Lucas Baker; captain’s player: Ben Scholes.

Men’s 4ths players’ player: Dan Wright; captain’s player: Rafael Read.

Ladies’ 1sts players’ player: Jess Ball; captain’s player: Pippa Bembridge.

Ladies’ 2nds players’ player: Maplethorpe and Moore; captain’s player: Kelly Cooper.

Ladies’ 3rds players’ player: Vicky Worrall; captain’s player: Camille Rogers.

The Team of the Season trophy went to the Ladies’ 2nds, who finished the campaign second in the East League Three North table.

The final award was presented to Senior Club Person Charlotte Morris, for her outstanding contribution to the club, dedicating her time to developing youngsters as part of the coaching team and captain of the ladies’ third team.
