Caring Alexis is a cut above

While we normally gain stuff on our birthday, one Spalding youngster has lost 19 inches of hair to mark turning 11.

Alexis Dakteris, a pupil at Spalding Academy, has also raised £300 for the Little Princess Charity which will use her brown locks to turn into a wig for a child who has lost their own hair due to medical reasons.

Mum Heather said: “She likes to do things to make the world a better place in some way.

“She has a green Blue Peter badge and is a keen Womble, collecting rubbish around the town or even within our neighbourhood with her friends.

“She has been trying to get a littler picking group started at school too.

“A couple of years ago she chose to raise money for the St. Barnabas Hospice as her birthday fundraiser so we took part in Bubble Rush.

“She has been working on her sponsorship for several months but the actual hair cut had to wait until the salons were back open and we were nearer her target figure. Her birthday presents were even wrapped in packaging paper to reduce waste!”
