Care workers are rewarded for their dedication to duty

Two South Holland care workers have been rewarded for their dedication, hard work and exceptional achievements.
Elaine Whittle – home manager at Southfield House in Spalding – and Sarah Johnson – a senior carer from Patchett Lodge in Holbeach – were recognised by the Orders of St John Care Trust (OSJCT).
They were presented with the Chairman’s Commendation award for meritorious service at the annual Trust Awards ceremony which was held at Cheltenham Park Hotel in Gloucestershire.
Elaine began her career with the Trust in 2009 as a relief carer and has held several positions at Southfield House.
In June 2015, she gained promotion to head of care and, two months later, the home manager became unwell.
Elaine was asked if she would step into the role of acting home manager, to which she has shown great dedication and professionalism.
She supports the residents, their families and the team to ensure that excellent outcomes are achieved for all.
Elaine has benefited from the support of her team and the wider operations team on her personal journey into the role of home manager.
She shows great calmness and integrity in anything she takes on and her confidence and knowledge has grown tremendously over the years.
Elaine has now taken on the role as permanent manager at the home.
Sarah has been with the Trust for 11 years, initially as evening care assistant before becoming a senior carer in 2014.
Over the last year, Sarah has developed herself into a capable and confident senior carer who takes pride in her work.
Additionally, Sarah is the home’s dementia lead and has taken on this role with enthusiasm and positivity.
She also has a keen interest in medications, recently becoming a principal designated person.
Caroline Dunagan, OSJCT’s assistant operations director for Lincolnshire, said: “Every single one of our employees works extremely hard throughout the year delivering and maintaining the best standard of care to our residents.
“This special Trust awards ceremony is the perfect occasion for us to shine the spotlight on our very own stars and recognise those colleagues who have really stood out during the last 12 months.
“It is great to be able to celebrate the exceptional commitment and commend their hard work at such an important and prestigious event.”
