Call for warning signs after lorry topples into Pinchbeck ditch

A call has been made for warning signs about narrow back roads after a lorry ended up on its side in a ditch.

The incident in Pinchbeck on Monday morning (November 16) happened in Fengate Road near its junction with Mill Green Road.

Nearby resident Ruth Aylett believes it is high time that HGV drivers were given warning about the width of the road and its soft verges.

She said: “We’ve seen this happen several times.

“I don’t blame the drivers – they’re probably just following their sat navs. But it would be good if there was a warning sign.

“The verges are soft now and anything heavy like a lorry on them is going to cause problems.”

The lorry, from York, was believed to be en route to delivering peat to a nearby nursery.
