Brownies help rescue dogs stay warm and well-fed

Dogs at a rescue centre will be warm and well-fed thanks to 1st Holbeach Brownies.

After one of the group’s volunteers started knitting dog blankets and coats, leader Jayne Dean encouraged everyone to get involved for Jerry Green Dog Rescue and the Brownies’ response was “amazing” with piles of tins of food, towels, chews and toys being brought in.

They were handed over to staff from the rescue centre, who spoke to the girls, aged seven to ten, about caring for and handling of dogs, the charity’s work and microchipping.

Mrs Dean said: “The ladies from Jerry Green were amazed by how much we had collected and the girls had a wonderful evening.”
