Broadway keep pressure on league leaders Donington with 7-0 win

Second-placed Broadway kept the pressure on league leaders Donington B in the Spalding and District Billiards League with a maximum 7-0 win away at Holbeach B, closing the gap to five points.

Andy Wheatley (r05) took the first with a winning margin of eight points 200-192 against Andy Spearman (r80).
Roxton Chapman (o275) hit 11 breaks including the highest of the week a 97 against Denis Hix (r70) running out with a 200-147 win.

Finishing off a good night for Broadway was Gary Norman (o265) who had eight breaks, his highest being 61 as he defeated Neil Harvey (r30) 200-165.

League chairman Neil Reynolds (o55) hit breaks of 64, 50 and 26 for Donington B with a 200-163 win against John Clapton (r110) away at Pyramid A as the leaders won 5-2.

John Twell (r40) levelled things up for Pyramid with a 200-160 win against Neil Burton (r60).

Making his first appearance for Donington was Jason Bloomfield (r70) and he held his nerve to secure a 70 points victory against Reagan Cooke-Holmes (r70) 200-130.

Pyramid B swap positions with their A team with a 5-2 win at home to Consti. Maurice Phillipson (r85) and Phil Cooke (r100) taking the first two games against Mick Johnson (o65) and John Bellerby (r100) respectively.

Taking the two points for Consti was Stuart Davies (r40) as he defeated Darrell Read (r25), 200-122.

Gosberton remain in fifth position as they enjoyed a 5-2 win at home to Donington A. Marcus Pell (o40), of Gosberton, had a good consistent game, but admittedly had the run of the ball as he won 200- 143 against Nigel Brasier (r45).

Donington’s Ben Wrigglesworth (r20), made it level as he won 200-170 against Des Forbes (r65).

The final frame of the evening was looking a tight affair, until Shane White (o25) for Gosberton hit a fine 58 break to edge ahead and finally win 200-182 against Tony Scully (r40).

Services came away from Holbeach A with a 4-3 win. Nigel Cherry (r85) and Chris Dunmore (o05) took the first two for them against Jason Rose (o05 and Ben Harding (scr). But a big win of 114 points for John Dawson (r65) of Holbeach, saw him defeat Vince Fitter (scr) 200-86 and get the aggregate point for his team.
