Brilliant Christmas sees Knights march off the bottom

It’s been a brilliant festive period for Pinchbeck United who trebled their wins total for the season to move off the bottom of the United Counties League Premier Division North.
The Knights went into the Christmas period with just one win to their name.
But on the Saturday before Christmas they picked up a first league win in a 3-1 victory over Deeping United.
The Knights raced into a 2-0 lead against Deeping, man of the match Hugo Hunt scoring his first for the club, before Kelvin Ibeneme doubled the advantage from the penalty spot later on in the second half.
Taylor Jaine sealed a first win in the league since September for Pinchbeck despite Tom Waumsley making it 3-1 to Deeping late on.
Boxing Day saw another battling performance but Sleaford Town took their chances in a 3-0 win.
Pinchbeck proved the revival wasn’t just a flash in the pan as they beat Wisbech Town 2-1 at the Sir Halley Stewart on Saturday, December 30.
Ibeneme scored from the penalty spot before veteran Neal Spafford doubled their lead with a fine strike from distance.
Wisbech came back into it in the second half with Jon Challlinor netting for them in the 79th minute.
New signing Archie Wallace played in all three games and made a difference.
After sitting at the bottom for months, Pinchbeck are now five points clear of Hucknall Town who have two games in hand and are in the sole relegation place.
They remain second from bottom, three points behind Newark and Sherwood United, who they host at the Sir Halley Stewart this coming Saturday.
