Bright start gives Kilby the win

The North Level at Main Road produced an impressive leading weight in Tydd Gote Angling Club’s Sunday match although the backing weights were some way behind.

Andrew Kilby found himself on peg 25 and took a 4lb plus bream first cast and followed it up with another two of a similar stamp inside the first 20 minutes to put the match beyond everyone’s reach.

He added more roach on his pole line to take his total to 17lb 10oz and a comfortable win.

Greg Chalat was best of the rest with some quality roach and skimmers to his pinkie and worm, mainly at 8m, from peg 13, for 6lb 2oz and runners up spot.

Archie Greenwood on peg 33 started like a train with almost 4lb in the first half hour, but his swim died and he struggled for the rest of the match towards his third placed 5lb 6oz.

Steve Borrett was on peg 15 where he had pike trouble on and off all day but found enough roach for fourth with a level 4lb.

lResults: Wednesday Open Main Road: 1. Archie Greenwood and Jon Young 10lb 4oz 3. John Taylor 8lb 7oz
