The Girls and Boys Brigades in Spalding have celebrated the organisation’s 90th birthday.
The 1st Spalding Girls Brigade and 3rd Spalding Boys Brigade held a joint celebration on Sunday October 15 where past members were invited to join a special service at the Spalding United Reformed Church.
It was followed by a buffet lunch.
Leaders and members took part in the service, which included a puppet sketch, and the Spalding Marching Ambassadors playing several hymns.
Genevieve Stokes was presented with her Brigadier Brooch, which is only second to the Queen’s Award as the highest award available within Girls Brigade.
This represents four years of different badge work and challenges.
The church hall held photos and memorabilia dating back to the start of the two brigade companies with many coming back for the reunion bringing their own photos to share.
A special cake had been made, and was cut by the two current captains, Ken Robinson and Julie Lunn, along with past captain Mrs Elsie Bright.
