Brickie jets in to land top award

A Crowland brickie interrupted his holiday in Ibiza to cement a national title.

Adam Schneider won the junior section in the National Guild of Bricklayers award after flying to Surrey for the day for the finals last month.

After being crowned the regional champion in May, for the national final he had to produce his best work from the specification plan and he fought off competition from nine other regional winners.

Adam returned to his holiday knowing he was the National Champion for Guild of Bricklayers and was delighted.

He is currently studying level two bricklaying apprenticeship at Peterborough Regional College and working four days a week with Randall & Co Builders.

Adam said: “I flew back to attend the final and was over the moon to learn that I was the national champion! I flew back to finish my holiday once I was crowned the winner!”

John Higgins PRC Brickwork Lecturer said: “Adam has proven to be an exemplary learner, his attitude to timekeeping and attendance, his commitment to learning and private study have been admirable.

“Adam constantly strives to produce work in both theory and practical sessions to the highest of standards and is a credit to both the college and his employer.”

Richard Randall, Director of Randall & Co Builders commented: “Adam has been an apprentice with us since September 2017 and has gone from strength to strength.

“He has made me very proud and is a credit to the company.

“He has knuckled down since day one and he is a pleasure to work with.”
