Winless Spalding Town begin a more favourable run of fixtures in the Lincs ECB Premier Division with a trip to mid-table Alford on Saturday (noon).
Town have lost four of their opening five fixtures in the county top flight, with the exception being Saturday’s washed out home clash with leaders Bracebridge Heath.
Alford, who have registered two wins from their five games, were involved in one of the few games to beat the weather on Saturday.
They were edged out by one wicket against second-placed Lindum, who reached a winning total of 94-9 having bowled Alford out for 93.
Town also have games against fellow strugglers Louth (June 3) and mid-table T20 specialists Bourne (June 10) in the next few weeks, with captain Rob Ambrose aiming to get some much-needed points on the board.
They did pick up seven points on Saturday, with some play possible at Spalding Grammar School despite the rain. Table-toppers Bracebridge made a total of 225-6 declared after being put into bat by by Ambrose.
Matt Lineker (76) was the mainstay of their innings, but Alex Willerton’s explosive 25 from 15 balls and a run-a-ball 31 from Stuart Fraser-Cattanach lit up the closing overs.
Roy Tilley (3-65) and Jonathan Miles (2-33) were the pick of the Town bowlers, with Josh Lawrence (1-23) the other wicket-taker.
Spalding’s reply wasn’t able to get going, with the game abandoned before a ball was bowled.

The only game to see any action at all was at the Memorial Field, where Deeping 2nd bowled out Spalding 2nd for 98 in the Premier Division.
Jamie Juckes hit 40 for Spalding, who were rescued by the downpour.
This Saturday sees Town 2nd host Bourne 2nd, as they bid to close the gap on early pace-setters Billingborough.
In Division One, leaders Long Sutton face a test of their credentials when they visit second-placed Baston, while stuggling Moulton Harrox host the only side below them in the table – Billingborough 2nd (both 1pm).
