Long Sutton are now 8.5 points clear at the top of Spalding and District Billiards League – with a game in hand – after a 5-2 win at Holbeach A on Monday night.

Mick Cooper (O160) got them on the way to glory with a titanic 200-195 win over Hugh Pinner (O110) in the clash of the night.
Pinner made a 35 break, while Cooper racked up a 33.

John Dawson (R30) then clinched the win for Sutton, but Andrew Yardley (scr) made a 33 break en-route to winning the final frame for Holbeach

Second-placed Donington slipped up 5-2 at third-placed Holbeach C, with James Glover (R100) pipping Matt Turner (R50) 200-199 in the final frame.

Elsewhere, breaks of 34 and 29 from Martin O’Connor (scr) helped Pyramid B defeat Gosberton A 5-2, while Consti D also picked up five points from their trip to Gosberton B.

The closest game of the week saw Consti C edge out Holbeach B 4-3. Stewart Davies (R30) and Alan Hansard (R70) were the frame winners, while Davies and Tony Blanchard (R60) made breaks of 22 and 23 respectively.
