Billiards round-up: 140 break is season’s best for Crowland cue ace Childs

Star man Rob Childs reeled off the biggest break of the Spalding and District Billiards League season so far on Monday night.

Childs, who plays off a huge O250 handicap, made a massive 140 break in Crowland B’s 4-3 victory over Long Sutton.

In the same game, Sutton’s Mick Cooper (O180) bagged breaks of 51, 48 and 39 unfinished, while Childs also added a cool 55.

Meanwhile, two teams enjoyed super 7-0 wins.

Donington saw off Gosberton B by the maximum scoreline, with Mat Turner (R50) making a fine 24 break in the process.

Pyramid B were the other side to record a whitewash as they breezed past club mates Pyramid A.

Darrell Read (R40) and Maurice Phillipson (R60) starred in that one with respective breaks of 35 and 21.

Title-chasing Holbeach C picked up a 5-2 success at Consti B, despite a stellar showing from Mick Johnson.

The O170 handicapper made breaks of 37, 36, 27 and 24, while Ben Harding (R60) added a 31 for Holbeach.
