A bereaved mum walking the coastline of Britain in memory of her daughter is appealing for people to walk with her in South Holland next week.
Natalia Spencer will walk from Fosdyke Bridge to Sutton Bridge on Monday – two days after the first anniversary of the death of her five-year-old daughter Elizabeth – then on to King’s Lynn the following day.
Natalia (41) was named Endurance Fundraiser of the Year at the JustGiving Awards last month for her Elizabeth’s Footprint challenge.
She said: “I have been determined to do absolutely everything I can and more to justify the tragic loss of my daughter and to create a lasting and beautiful celebration of her short, but bright, life on earth.”
She added: “I would like to invite anyone who is interested to join me to walk along the coast while I am in the area. My ‘Walk of Love’ has brought together so many people, those who have lost someone special and those who simply want to support my journey for Elizabeth. My walking companions over the last ten months have been invaluable to me.”
Staying with strangers who offer accommodation along the way, Natalia is raising money for Bristol Children’s Hospital where Elizabeth spent her last days.
Elizabeth fell ill with a relatively common virus in November last year. It triggered a rare autoimmune condition and after 18 days on life support she died.
Elizabeth loved the seaside and on February 14, Natalia set off on her Walk of Love from Durdle Door, Dorset – the last beach she and Elizabeth visited together.
Since then she has walked more than 4,000 miles covering between 17 and 20 miles a day.
