Beneficiaries of Santa’s sleigh ride

Eleven charities and voluntary groups who provided collectors for the annual Spalding sleigh ride at Christmas have all received £300 cheques.

The presentations were made by Bob Bradley, president of South Holland Rotary Club – the sleigh ride organisers – at a special celebration evening at the Woodlands Hotel, Spalding.

The 11 were Spalding and Welland Rotary Club, Spalding Rugby Club, Air Training Corps, Spalding Competitive Swimming Club, the Crazy Flyers, Hope and Homes, Spalding Brownie and Guide leaders, Broad Street Methodist Church, Spalding Gymnastics Club, Spalding Duke of Edinburgh Award group, and Spalding and District Young Farmers.

The club’s fundraising organiser Nick Rangeley announced sleigh ride record receipts of over £10,000 when all costs had been met.

He said most of the rest of the money would be used by the club to help the young and old, the sick, needy and disabled in Spalding.
