Banned shopper admits stealing

A Holbeach woman who was banned from the town’s Tesco store, went in and stole meat and wine, Boston Magistrates’ Court heard.
Helen Houghton (52), of Marshlands Drive, admitted theft and was known to staff in the store. They saw her take the items and attempt to leave without paying on September 14, the court was told.
She told police she hadn’t received her benefits and was ‘desperate’ at the time.
Magistrates heard that she had 20 previous convictions, 16 for theft, and was subject to a conditional discharge from August. There were also other offences pending.
Sentencing was adjourned to December 21 to tie-in with the other offences.
