Three of South Holland’s best bowlers claimed two national titles between them as they represented Lincolnshire on three fronts.

Chris Warboys, Ash Caress and Paul Caress – who all play for Ayscoughfee Bowls Club – won the EBF 2-Wood Triples title at Skegness.

Not satisfied with his team triumph, Ash Caress then went on to triumph in the under-25 Pairs at the same location as he teamed up with Jonathan West from Boston.

The Ayscoughfee trio’s first outing at Skegness saw them compete in the 3-Wood Triples. They were awarded a bye in the first round, before edging out Nottinghamshire 15-12 in the quarter-finals.

However, due to a clash with other fixtures, they were unable to compete in their semi-final against Derbyshire.

There was no such trouble in the 2-Wood Triples, as they breezed past Derbyshire 25-13 in their opener.

A whopping 28-7 success over Northants followed in the last eight, before a tense 20-16 victory against Durham in the semis.

That set up a national final with Northumberland, with the Caress duo and Warboys winning 24-9 to be crowned national champions for Lincolnshire.

Ash Caress then teamed up with Boston’s West for the under-25 Pairs – and they cruised to a 21-11 win over Humberside first up.

Northants were then dispatched 23-10, while Norfolk were also seen off 23-11 in the last four.

Derbyshire awaited in the final, but the Lincs duo held firm to prevail 19-15 and become national champions.

Meanwhile, the Caress duo and Warboys were beaten 18-16 by a strong Berkshire side in the first round of the EBA 3-Wood Triples at Royal Leamington Spa.
