The area is well prepared for any changes to planning policy, the leader of South Holland District Council has said.
Coun Nick Worth used the recent meeting of the authority to address the ‘very long letter’ he’d received from government on changes to housing policies.
“We are above our housing targets and we have been for the last couple of years so we’re probably better placed than most,” he said. “There will be a focus more on giving planning permission than developers building on sites that have permission.
“That’s quite an interesting one and I think we’re quite good at doing that.
“The issues are more about viability and they don’t seem to have picked up on that.
“Councils need more powers and funding for sites that sit empty or are not built up.”
Coun Worth added that the authority had ‘just started work’ on a new local plan.
