The third book in an acclaimed Spalding author’s Britannia series is landing next month.
Russell Dumper’s creations tell the story of an alternate timeline where the British Empire continues to rule the waves.
Britannia Hunts is released on Amazon on October 12.
It follows on the back of Britannia Rises and Britannia Strikes with eight titles planned in the series.
Father-of-two Russell, said of the new novel: “This one continues the high-stakes, action- packed narrative, but there’s a slightly sombre note at the start after the events of Britannia Strikes and a bit of a focus on male mental health, too.
“It’s interesting, because the first draft of this was completed probably 15 years ago and I’ve seen male mental health becoming more prevalent in modern popular culture the last few years, so hopefully it can continue that way.
“Most of us know at least one man affected and it’s really only recently it’s been openly spoken about.”
Britannia Rises, won three Bookstagram awards last year and his science fiction novel The Hero Virus, won the Bookstagram award for best sci-fi last year.
There’s also plenty of excellent reviews on websites such as Good Reads.
“‘The response to all my books has been so overwhelming positive, it still surprises me,” Russell said. “Every time I read a new review and the reader has enjoyed my story, it’s a surreal feeling.
“With Britannia Strikes, however, there was a more emotional response.
“No spoilers, but the ending upset some people, but that’s the response I was aiming to elicit, so I was pleased, even if some of the readers weren’t! I was delighted to have been able to create that level of emotion in people.”
To celebrate the release of the book, at 1pm on Tuesday, November 10 Russell will be at Spalding Library reading from Britannia Hunts and will be signing copies. All are welcome and refreshments will be provided.
