One of the stars of Flog It is the next guest lecturer at the Spalding Gentlemen’s Society’s next lecture on Friday, March 10.
David Fletcher is a retired member of the chattels division of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and an experienced independent Fine Art and Chattels valuer specialising in valuations for Insurance, Probate and Matrimonial purposes.
He started his professional career in his native Bedford before joining Sworders in 1978 and subsequently worked for Phillips (now Bonhams), the UK’s third largest firm of international fine art auctioneers.
When he’s not valuing antiques on ‘Flog It’, David is a consultant auctioneer for an auction house in Bedford.
Beyond the saleroom, he can frequently be found guiding ‘behind the ropes’ visits to country houses, art galleries and museums, getting to grips with the items and objects on display.
The final lecture in the Winter Season on March 24 is ‘The Isfahan Friday Mosque – A Palimpsest of Iranian Islamic Architecture’ by Dr Richard McClary, Senior Lecturer in Islamic Art at the University of York.
The Winter Lectures are held at Broad Street Methodist Church, Spalding and start at 7.30pm with an admission charge of £3 each at the door (no charge for students under 18 and school pupils).
A society spokesman said: “All are welcome to attend.”
