Arts and Crafts event at Fleet church this weekend

An art and gift fayre is returning to St Mary Magdelene Church in Fleet.

Volunteers aged between 76 and 94 put on the fundraiser for the church taking place 10am to 4pm both Saturday and Sunday, October 26 and 27.

Julie Anne Turner, said: “Set up initially by Tracey Carter and her mum as an art exhibition and a few stalls, the reigns were then handed over to myself and Caroline Sullivan to organise the stalls and art.

“This is the first year we have changed to a mix of artisan crafts and retail.

“I think the thing that makes this event soo special, other than the beautiful historical surroundings, without doubt are the volunteers who work tirelessly over the two days serving delicious food.

“The youngest of these volunteers is 76 and the eldest 94 and they welcome everyone with a smile and put us younger exhibitors to shame with their energy and passion

“We aren’t sure how many more years we can keep this event going, with our aging volunteers but hope people can come and support us again this year.”
