There was a good turn out for the latest Tydd Gote Angling Club’s Sunday Club match on the North Level – despite the patchy results of late.
But, with the wind in the east, the water still a little clear and an abundance of weed in some pegs out to the 13m line, the fishing was hard.
Star man was John Taylor on fancied peg 7, who was into good roach from the off on pinkie, firstly at 7m and then 11m, with fish up 12oz.
But the appearance of a big pike disrupted the feeding fish, leaving Taylor to pick off odd smaller samples to make up his 7lb 9oz total.
Sammy McSpadden, on peg nine, also found a few good roach but some useful perch – the best over a pound – boosted his total to 5lb 6oz and second place.
Pete Emery took third from peg 3 with 3lb 4oz, predominantly made up of a single 2lb 10oz perch taken early on worm.
After that, the weights tailed off with most struggling for odd fish, although Archie Greenwood on 12 and Dave Simmonds on 10 managed to tie for fourth place with 2lb 11oz.

- The Holbeach and District Angling Club’s annual John Ivatt Memorial Match took place at the weekend, with some decent weights netted.
The winner at Sharp’s Bridge was Jason Thrower, who bagged a total of 29lb 6oz.
James Fennelow came in second with a net of 21lb 8oz, while the top three was rounded off by Jason Ebbage (19lb 4oz).
