Anger over parking ticket in Spalding town centre

An angry driver has appealed a £50 fine issued for her car being “six inches” outside a parking zone in Spalding.

Christine Hardy believes the ticket, issued in Sheep Market on August 11, was issued pettily and such behaviour is doing little to encourage people to shop in the town centre.

Mrs Hardy had been shopping in Heron for about 15 minutes when she spotted the ticket and saw the civil parking enforcement officer nearby.

She said: “I called him a jobsworth and asked him why he had put a ticket on my car.
“He said ‘Because you are not in the parking zone, madam’.
“I’m angry because I wasn’t blocking anywhere. They are trying to get people back into the town centre and this is not helping.”

Mrs Hardy, of Whaplode, is awaiting the outcome of her appeal to Lincolnshire County Council.
