All points ‘north’ for new season

Spalding United fans will need their sat navs next season when they step up to National League North.

Although the division is regionalised, the Tulips will face trips as far afield as Tyneside, the Lancashire coast, south Wales and Oxfordshire, with a local derby against King’s Lynn.

The final piece of next season’s step two jigsaw was decided on Saturday when 2025/26 runners-up South Shields were beaten at home in the play-off final by Kidderminster Harriers.

Alongside Spalding, newcomers for the 2026/27 season will be relegated pair Morecambe and Brackley and the other three promoted teams – Harborough Town, Hebburn and Hednesford.

The final 24 are subject to FA confirmation of any lateral swaps with National League South. The Tulips will be one of the 15 most northerly clubs in the division so will not be considered for a switch.

As it stands, the most southerly teams are Oxford City and Merthyr Town, while the most northerly National League South clubs are Braintree Town and Hemel Hempstead Town.

The season starts on Saturday, August 8, with the final day of the regular season on Saturday April 24.

National League North 2026/27: AFC Telford, Bedford Tn, Brackley, Buxton, Chester, Chorley, Darlington, Harborough, Hebburn, Hednesford, Hereford, King’s Lynn, Macclesfield, Marine, Merthyr, Morecambe, Oxford City, Radcliffe, Scarborough, South Shields, Southport, Spalding, Spennymoor and Worksop.
