AIMP festival vibes in the area

A mini-musical festival is hoping to bring at least of the spirit from the absent flower parade to Spalding this weekend.

Party at the Mail Cart is a family-friendly event running from 12pm to 7pm on Saturday (May 9).

It’s being organised and performed by The All Included Music Project (AIMP) set up last year by Chris Dark to bring musicians in the area together.

Members had been working together towards playing on a float for the Spalding Flower Parade.

But when it was cancelled earlier this year they decided to put on their own event at the Royal Mail Cart in Pinchbeck Road, where it puts on fortnightly open mic nights.

Chris, who wanted to set up the group after a fall through his home’s roof left him disabled, said: “With the sudden and shocking cancellation of the Spalding Flower Parade, myself and the other members of AIMP got very busy trying to replace the loss with a music festival.

“It makes me proud that this is our first music festival that is fully run by ourselves.

“We have a packed programme that is aimed at all the family including bands, children’s games, karaoke, have-a-try instruments and stalls.

“I still cannot believe this has been achieved in such a short time and I’m hopeful of a large turnout.”

Last weekend AIMP members had their own float in the Moulton Chapel Parade.
