Act II Theatre Company are taking on a show like no other this week.
Their Advanced Skills group will be telling the story of London Road: an innovative and ground-breaking verbatim musical by Alecky Blythe and Adam Cork.
This show tells the story of the residents of London Road, Ipswich, around the time of a series of murders that shocked the entire community.
Act II spokesman said: “Every line are words spoken by the real-life residents in interviews and news broadcasts at the time. So too is every lyric, sung in the speech patterns of the original recordings.
“Its skill and sophistication it matched only by its humanity and warmth.
“It’s an absolute must-see for anyone who values the power of theatre”.
Director Charlotte Gernert said: “By using the exact words and phrasing of the residents of London Road themselves, we can achieve a closeness to the thoughts and experiences of these people in a way that a fictional
script could never do.
“The addition of music only adds to the experience which should make for an emotional powerful evening. It’s an incredible show and we hope to do it justice.”
London Road is being performed at the South Holland Centre, Spalding on February 3 and 4 at 7:30pm (doors open at 7pm) Tickets can be bought from Act II, by ringing 01775766921 or emailing [email protected]
