Local artist Nicholas Palmer was the guest at the most recent meeting of the Spalding Arts and Crafts Society.
Unusually there was no specific demonstration and Nicholas went on instinct to paint.
A spokesman for the club said: “It was an excellent, interesting, entertaining and sometimes messy abstract art demo.
“There was a lot of audience interaction with people suggesting what they could see in the paintings and asking what emotions and planning were involved.
“Nicholas said there was usually very little planning and he just went with the flow on what felt right on the day.
“He feels that the main thing is that it should be fun.”
The next demonstration is on Tuesday, October 6 and it is entitled Market in Watercolour with this month’s demonstrator being Yorkshire artist Elizabeth Nast.
It takes place at Pinchbeck Village Hall on Knight Street from 7.30pm. Entry is £3 for members and £5 for visitors with tea and coffee provided.
“Elizabeth loves painting the ordinary in life whether it is people shopping, a pile of rubbish, a poster plastered on a shop front or an old abandoned factory,” the club spokesman said.
This week is also your last chance to see the club’s current exhibition of work at Spalding Library on Victoria Street.
It closes on October 3.
