A decade of helping hospital

A shop that’s raised over £300,000 for the community run Holbeach Hospital celebrated its tenth birthday last week.

Jenny Spencer and Eileen Ambrose were among those that set up the League of Friends shop in High Street which launched on October 3, 2009.

The manager and chair of the shop respectively were both there ten years later with other volunteers to celebrate a decade of fundraising that’s helped provide a mini-bus, a sensory garden and a host of other items for the hospital.

Eileen said: “In the ten years the hospital has used £304,000 of what we’ve raised and there’s still quite an amount for it to take with any future requests.

“Thank you to all our past and present customers and volunteers and all the loyal support we’ve received from everyone.

“Outside events such as the summer and Christmas fayres have helped us and we’ve had numerous donations from people whose relatives have had such amazing care at the hospital.

“We’re lucky to have a very good manager in Jenny and amazing volunteers who give their time and without whom we wouldn’t have the shop.

“To raise the money we have is marvellous and lets hope it continues.”
