Temporary roles for area’s top police

South Holland Police has a new inspector and there’s a new sergeant covering Holbeach, but both are only for a six month period.

Inspector Nick Waters has taken over the role as head of the district’s policing unit after Inspector Gareth Boxall was assigned to lead changes in neighbourhood policing throughout Lincolnshire.

Insp Waters comes from a background of front line policing.

He was a dog handler for a long part of his career; has worked in neighbourhood policing previously and was more recently an Operations Inspector at Skegness.

On top of that change, Holbeach will, for six months, have a new sergeant looking over neighbourhood policing, Sergeant Cliff Fairhurst.

A spokesman for Lincolnshire Police, said: “South Holland Policing is to see a couple of short term changes. Neighbourhood Policing in Lincolnshire is set to be refreshed and Inspector Gareth Boxall is going to lead those changes for six months.

“Whilst he is gone, Inspector Nick Waters will cover his absence.

“Neighbourhood Policing for Holbeach sees a new Sergeant, Cliff Fairhurst.

“His predecessor, Colin Clarkson, has been temporarily promoted to Detective Inspector for six months.

“Like Insp Waters, Sergeant Fairhurst also has a wide experience of front line policing having worked predominantly at Boston including as a custody officer.”
