LETTER: Divert some cash to the town centre

What fantastic news that Boris has come through with some money for Holbeach town centre.

The fanfare article is not really very clear as to what that amount of money will be circa £150k. It will help deliver part of the Holbeach transport strategy which has its “vision and objectives rooted in the Holbeach regeneration project”.

Will Coun Worth now be letting the town have details of the regeneration project? Will he be holding an open meeting with the people of the town to explain what is being proposed?

The transport strategy contains many ideas and concepts of what we need in the town, many more than £150k will cover.

My understanding was that the town is through to round two and must now present a proposal of what it wants to do to revive the flagging high street.

Changing traffic controls at Market Hill won’t increase footfall into the town.

Creating parking outside of the shops would be a start.

There is a massive amount of money available for education as a result of the new houses that will come to the town.

Can Coun Worth start the conversations with the powers that be, to divert some of this cash to the town centre?
