A nine-foot-long python enjoyed itself in a Spalding retirement home last week.
Thankfully Basil is the pet of Kathryn Degg who took him to The Bungalow in Park Road for the residents to experience.
The four-year-old snake, who could grow to be more than 20 foot long, enjoyed sliding around the elderly who mostly also took a shine to him.
Peggy Barker, who had turned 87 the day before meeting Basil, said: “I’ve never stroked a snake before. He was lovely.”
The Bungalow’s Dianne Underwood said: “A few residents held him and a lot stroked him even if they were a little unsure at first.
“Seeing an animal and experiencing something like this is great for the residents.
“We already have two cats, a rabbit and a dog here and it was great to have something more exotic.”
