Makwana’s heroics fail to deliver a win for Spalding Water Polo

Four goals from Damien Makwana couldn’t stop Spalding Water Polo losing 8-6 at Cambridge in their latest Herts League clash.

In what was a thrilling end-to-end tussle, Makwana’s heroics, plus goals from John James and Ben Marsters, weren’t quite enough to deny the hosts.

  • Spalding Water Polo’s juniors got their season under way with a tournament at Grantham’s Mere’s Leisure Centre.

They were up against some big city sides and played four matches.

They managed to grab a deserved draw in the first game with a score of 3-3, but lost the rest of the games despite them being tightly contested.

The squad was made up of Libby Furnell, Anish Suwarneraj, Sebastian Lewis, Haydn Lewis, Archie Morant and Ben Hales.

Spalding Juniors train on a Tuesday night at 6.45pm, with anybody aged under-18 welcome to give the sport a try.
