Assurances over under-threat centre

Assurances have been made to Holbeach Medical Centre patients after it was given six months to improve or face possible closure.

As reported in last week’s Voice, the Park Road centre was rated ‘inadequate’ for a second time this year following Care Quality Commission inspections.

Following the release of the report last week, South Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has moved to assure patients.

A spokesman for the CCG said: “We are disappointed that Holbeach Medical Centre, was rated ‘inadequate’ and subsequently placed into ‘special measures’ by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), following its inspection on January 16.

“On April 18 the CQC visited the practice again to make sure improvements had been made and, as a result of this visit, the practice will be kept under review and remains in special measures.

“Being in special measures means that the CQC has found that elements of the services Holbeach Medical Centre provides have not been to the expected standard.

“In this case, the failures relate to certain areas where the CQC considers the
practice to be inadequate or requiring improvement.

“We are working closely with the practice to ensure that the areas of concern have either been resolved or are being addressed.

“We will continue to offer support to the practice, and will regularly review and monitor its progress.

“We would like to assure patients of our commitment to helping the practice improve its rating, and our commitment to commissioning the highest quality, safe care for everyone.”
