LETTERS – Wrong about junction

George Scott is completely wrong when he says that Werrington junction at Peterborough is being altered so more freight trains can be rerouted via Spalding.

Construction of the flyunder is to avoid the use of East Coast Main Line tracks between Peterborough station and the three or so miles to Werrington junction; at the moment all Spalding trains have to use one track and cross the others.

With these trains rerouted along the Stamford line to Werrington and then under the ECML, more East Coast trains can be run to cater for the increased demand.

I fail to understand why G Scott, the chairman of the beleaguered and forlorn so called Peterborough and Spalding Transport Users Forum, is commenting on freight trains and level crossings when they are nothing whatsoever to do with him.

It could be for the purpose of his continued posturing to try to make out that he and his forum are some sort of important and official body, which they are not.

Readers should be aware they have no accredited registered official status whatsoever.
