Two plead guilty to drug dealing related charges

A Spalding man and a youth have appeared in court over the possession of and supply of cannabis.

Jeremias Vata Joao (20) had about 40 grams of the drug on him when he was searched by police, as well as drug paraphernalia such as scales.

Prosecutor Nick Todd told Boston Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday): “On his phone were approximately 11,000 messages dealing with cannabis supply, smoking or use.”

Joao, of Goodfellows Road, pleaded guilty to two charges – possession with intent to supply a controlled class B drug on April 9 last year, and supplying cannabis between September 22, 2017, and April 9, 2018.

Magistrates declined jurisdiction and his case was sent to Lincoln Crown Court for sentencing on a date to be fixed.

A 17-year-old co-accused pleaded guilty to two charges – possession of cannabis and being unlawfully concerned with the supply of cannabis.

Mr Todd said the boy, who cannot be identified due to his age, would direct friends and acquaintances to Joao.

“They would contact him knowing that he took cannabis and he would refer them on to Mr Joao,” added Mr Todd.

The boy is due to be sentenced at Boston Youth Court on Tuesday.(Apr 9)
