Rotary offers blood pressure tests

South Holland residents are being invited for a free health check that could help prevent a stroke.

On Saturday, April 13, Spalding’s South Holland Centre will host Spalding Rotary Club and Stroke Association’s day of free blood pressure checks.

A Rotary spokesman said of the day: “Blood pressures will be taken by health professionals who can give advice if there is anything significant learned from the very simple and painless test. It takes only a few minutes – just a small amount of time out of your day to take part in this important test.

“The Rotary Club of South Holland have co-ordinated this day for the last few years and would like to thank the many local busy Health Professionals who give up their own time to help on the day.”

The event runs from 10.30am to 3pm.

High blood pressure is the biggest risk factor for strokes and as it can have no symptoms many people are unaware that they have it.

The “Know Your Blood Pressure” campaign is being run to raise awareness about the link between high blood pressure and stroke. T

The Stroke Association has calculated that around 40 per cent of strokes could be prevented.
