Snooker round-up: Relentless Holbeach A close in on the Division One title

Services E have cut the gap but Holbeach A still lead the Spalding and District Snooker League heading into the penultimate fixtures of the season.

The A-team were 4-2 winners at Pyramid B in Division One on Thursday night.

James Sharpe (O42) had brought fourth placed Pyramid level at 1-1 after beating Jem Merrison (O42) 58-29, but frame wins for Mick Pearl (014), Mick Ayres Junior (R14) and Colin Dodd (014) sealed Holbeach’s win.

Pyramid’s Jason Green enjoyed a 44 break and 22 close in the final frame.

Second placed Services E kept the pressure on with two wins last week reducing the gap to six points.

Firstly they saw off Pyramid B 4-2 which included a 34 break from Pete Fisher.

Then they enjoyed a 6-0 whitewash of Bourne SC including Fisher (O28) taking advantage of his handicap advantage to land a big 103-28 win over Mark Gray (O105).

Boundary A took a big step towards the Division Two title as they beat third placed Long Sutton B 5-1.

Consti H beat Gosberton A 5-1 while a break of 47 by Mick Walker (O28) set Boundary C on their way to a 5-1 win over Services B.
