Spalding harassment husband given restraining order

A Spalding man has been ordered not to have any contact with his estranged wife after he admitted harassing her by forcing her to stop her car and sending her more than 200 texts in one weekend.

Lee Henry Purvis (36) of Parkside Crescent, admitted harassing his wife Amy between July 26 and 31 last year, when he appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court.

Prosecuting, Nick Todd said the couple had been married for seven years but after separating last year, Purvis saw his wife driving her car in Boston Road, Gosberton, so he overtook her, driving erratically, and forced her to stop, when he was abusive to her.

Mr Todd said that following this incident, at the next weekend, he sent her 204 text messages, some threatening her and some asking for a reconciliation.

Purvis, who was not represented, told the magistrates: “She’s left me. I can’t do much about it.”

He was fined £268 and ordered to pay £115 in costs and charges.

The magistrates also issued a restraining order ordering Purvis to have no contact in any way with his estranged wife for a year.
