Bears in the air at church

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? – No it was teddy bears falling from the sky in Quadring.

Villagers aged from under five to over 80 took part in the regular sponsored Teddy Bear Jump on Saturday, September 8.

While the church was open for a Heritage Open Day, those dropping the teddies aimed for a target on the ground and to get the most air time, 21 seconds being the winning time.

Reverend Ian Walters said: “Everyone designed their own parachute, and lots of work had gone into some of them. They were hauled up the tower in a basket and some teddies jumped several times during the afternoon

“The event raised funds for the appeal for a toilet and washing up area for the 14th century church which is loved and used by the nearby school and the community.”
